“In 2018 our eldest daughter, Annabel (Little Annabel) took her Welsh Section A pony Clwydyrhiw Showman to a couple of shows under the lead of Annabel Pope (Big Annabel) who’s long had a keen interest in showing. They performed well together and gained quite a few rosettes and even won a championship. It was then that the bug had bitten!”
“2019 saw us very lucky to be offered the loan of a lovely young pony called Nantcol Swansong (Sid) from friends. In partnership with Annabel Pope, we have produced him for the show ring and had great fun in the process. We attended a number of county shows as well as the BSPS Summer Championships and Royal London Championship Show, with early success. Royal London Championship Show was a great weekend with both ponies qualifying for evening performances and Nantcol Swansong taking the Home Produced Mini Supreme Champion and Reserve Supreme Home Produced.
We purchased Sid, shared with Annabel in 2020 and so now go into campaign again with him and Showman. Our younger daughter Felicity also has her own pony to take out this year after a short term loan last year of a wonderful Dartmoor.
Sadly, most of the 2020 show season was interrupted, but we hope to be back out with a fuller calendar of events with a combination of shows and pony club.

Hazelwood Show Ponies
Nantcol Swansong (Gelding)
Stable Name: Sid
We were lucky to have been offered Sid on loan for the 2019 season and we had the opportunity to buy him, which we did in syndicate with Annabel Pope.
Sid has his sights on HOYS in 2021 in Show Hunter classes.
Clwydyrhiw Showman (Gelding)
Stable Name: Showman
Showman has been with us for a couple of years as Annabel’s first ridden horse. Showman competes in Mountain and Moorland (M&M) Classes as a lead rein pony alongside “Big Annabel” and as “Little Annabel’s” first ridden and young handler classes.
In their first two seasons, the two Annabel’s and Showman have gained an impressive number of show and championship wins. Annabel is now starting jumping with Showman through Pony Club and the Berkshire Riding Club.
Coed Bach Lily
Stable Name: Lily
Lily joined us in the autumn of 2019 and joins the team for Felicity to start riding.
